Fun Ways to Learn French

Forget the typical classroom setting. Learn French yourself or with your kids and have fun doing it! There are many websites with games and exercises to help those who have no knowledge of the language or for those who wish to improve your French. We will continually add information and resources in future issues, but here are some fun suggestions for starters.

Listening and singing songs is an amazing way to retain what you have learned. www.mamalisa.com has dozens of songs with the English translations and with one click you can listen and sing along with the song as you read the words.

www.songsforteaching.com has the the words to the songs so you can follow along with their "listen to this song" feature. As you song along while listening to the songs, you will quickly adopt the correct pronunciation and intonation of the language quite effortlessly. Songs are catagorized such as songs about animals, clothing, weather, parts of the body, colors, foods, numbers, counting, and family.

www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryfrench is a great interactive site with fun graphics for kids (and adults!) You'll find games, songs and printables. The site features short everyday scenes with typical french conversation. Very fun.

www.digitaldialects.com This site also has easy games to help you learn the usual numbers, colors, etc., but also includes phrases, vocabulary builders, verb conjugation and more.
